Keep It Simple

No need to over stress this incredible moment in your life.  Sticking to simple solids and neutral tones are always a good rule of thumb for photos.  This amazing Mom-to-Be is absolutely stunning in her form fitting dress.  Perfect, for showing off that baby bump with ease.

Relax

The best portraits.  Truly the most amazing are those when my parents are totally relaxed and in the moment. Perhaps in the middle of a little giggle.  Your Maternity Photos will be awe-inspiring as you settle into this natural moment.  Try not to think about the photo, or how you look or if your head is positioned properly.  That worry is for me to tackle and I’ll make sure you’re beautiful every time.  Simply settle in and focus on that beautiful life inside you as the love pours out into your images.

Like I said, just relax.  I encourage my Moms to totally take a snooze during their session. LOL  See how elegant she looks!

Take it Outside

Being that we live in the great state of Texas, the weather can be quite harsh in the Summer months.  However, that didnt stop this Supermom from tackling the heat wave.  Her high heat Maternity Photography session in Dallas TX turned out spectacular as we glided through some quick poses and whisked her back into the cool air conditioning.

Water

You would have never guessed it was blazing hot from these striking maternity photos. On that note, grab yourself plenty of water to hydrate during outdoor sessions.  Even if its on the cooler side.  Walking around hiking about requires plenty of hydration for you and baby!

This Momma never missed a beat!  Not only do I just adore this couple, I have the privileged of meeting their little when one when he arrives.  Until we meet again!

1. Give up your phone

This radiant Momma just glowed during her maternity portraits!

Yes, when the time comes to birth your baby, the last thing you need to worry about is texting.  Assign a designated caller and give up your device to your partner, doula or whomever is assisting you on this journey.  Be sure all your contacts are easy to find (including your birth photographer).

Ask your new assistant to make all the important calls, and notification so that you can focus on bringing baby earth-side.

2. EAT!

As this Maternity Photography Dallas session came to a close, I hinted to Dad to sneak in some snacks!

Whether you birth at home, in a birth center or in the hospital, prepare yourself for a marathon.  Labor is tough and you will be famished before you know it.  Its protocol at most hospitals to not allow any food to birthing mothers in case of an emergency C-section.

This is a huge bummer if you found yourself overwhelmed in contractions at dinner time and never made it to finishing your plate.  Take an extra minute to scarf down a meal before the big push.  You will thank yourself later.

3. Socks

Most medical facilities are a bit chilly.  Be it Summer or Winter, place a pair of socks in your purse.  When your straddled in the bed ready to push, your tootsies may be cold out in the open.

4. Map it Out

Babies don’t come with tracking information, they arrive when ready.  Therefore, if you plan on giving birth at a place away from the homestead, map it out.  Your baby (or babies) don’t mind if its rush hour.  However, your uterus might.

Avoid birthing in the car and find alternate routes to your destination in case of traffic or road construction.  Your car upholstery will thank you.

5. Just Go With It

When it comes to birth, anything is possible.  Humble yourself in the idea that things may not go your way and that is TOTALLY OK!  Birth is hard.  Give yourself a break and just focus on bringing that baby into this world safe, happy and healthy.
